Christmas rolls are a simple, yet impressive appetizer – delicate slices of ham hide a creamy egg and cheese filling, seasoned with gherkin, garlic and mustard. You can prepare the stuffing in advance and keep it in the fridge, but roll the rolls just before the guests arrive. Thanks to this, each snack will be fresh, juicy and full of flavor. The recipe will be useful for any party – birthday, Christmas or New Year’s Eve.
Ingredients:
- 200 g of canned ham, sliced,
- 100 g of hard yellow cheese,
- 2-3 large eggs,
- 2 pickled cucumbers,
- 1/2 red pepper,
- 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise,
- 2 cloves of garlic,
- a teaspoon of chopped chives and dill,
- 1/2 teaspoon of mustard,
- salt and black pepper,
- 150 g cherry tomatoes and a few lettuce leaves for decoration.
How to do it:
Hard-boil the eggs, then cool, peel and cut them in half. Chop the egg white finely, put the yolks in a bowl and mash them with a fork.
Add grated cheese, pressed garlic, mustard and mayonnaise to the yolks. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper and mix thoroughly. Chop the pickled cucumbers and cleaned pepper into very small cubes, drain the cucumbers in a sieve, and then add them together with the egg whites to the mayonnaise-cheese paste. Add the chopped greens and mix thoroughly. The stuffing should have a creamy consistency. Add more mayonnaise if necessary.
Spread a portion of the filling on each slice of ham and roll it up. Place the rolls on a plate lined with lettuce. Insert a toothpick or a stick into each roll, having previously stuffed it with half a cherry tomato.
Serve Christmas rolls immediately after preparation and store any leftovers in the refrigerator. They taste best when the stuffing is chilled.
