This year, the Presidential Palace was once again covered in festive clothes and will delight visitors and residents of the city with its Christmas decorations. The glitter and beauty of Christmas lights, which decorate the majestic building, transport everyone to the magical world of Christmas.
The front courtyard of the Presidential Palace is decorated with a 12-meter spruce, which was donated by a private person from Šaštín-Stráž. President Peter Pellegrini will light it on Friday, December 6. However, this Christmas tree will not be the only one that will complete the Christmas atmosphere. The state enterprise Lesy SR also ensured the delivery of five more live Caucasian hemlocks. They come from their plantations and are located in the interior of the Presidential Palace and the Karačoni Palace.
“We are establishing a new tradition of cooperation with the fact that we want to support mainly Slovak foresters and their production,” stated the head of the office of the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Vodráška. The Presidential Palace notes that a live tree has a significantly lower carbon footprint than an artificial one. It captures carbon dioxide as it grows, helping to clean the air, and can be ecologically disposed of or recycled after Christmas.
“We decorated 4 trees for the Presidential Palace this year. In the Golden Hall, we decorated a live tree in gold-cream color, we installed around 4,000 LED lights on the Christmas tree. An interesting feature of the overall decoration was the recycling of “old” Christmas decorations, which were hand-made for the palace by a Slovak company. We also incorporated these decorations into our design to maintain an elegant and festive atmosphere in the space. The overall design was completed by a rocking horse and golden gifts under the tree,” wrote the author of the Christmas decoration on Instagram.
