Ukraine says it has killed or wounded half of all Russian soldiers

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have raised this Friday to more than 750,000 the combat casualties suffered by Russia since the beginning of the invasion, unleashed in February 2022 by order of the Russian president, without Moscow having provided figures for months.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army said in a statement posted on its Facebook account that the Russian Armed Forces have suffered “about 750,610” casualties to date, including dead and wounded, including 1,660 during fighting during the last day

Furthermore, he has stated that since the beginning of the conflict, 9,514 battle tanks, 21,043 artillery systems, 1,020 anti-aircraft systems, 369 airplanes, 329 helicopters, 20,023 drones, 28 boats and a submarine, among other military equipment, have been destroyed.

Russia, since the beginning of the war, has refused to provide data on casualties, given the impact they began to have on society, fearing that the statistics would generate rejection and uprising. Western intelligence, for its part, has always somewhat lowered kyiv’s data, but last October, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that more than 600,000 Russians were killed or wounded in this war.

Last September, Putin signed a decree that raised the personnel limit of his armed forces by 180,000 more soldiers, bringing the total to 1.5 million. So the figure given by Ukraine would represent half of those active armed forces.

If personnel dedicated to other tasks are added, the army will now have a maximum of 2,389,130 members, according to the order issued by the Kremlin. This is the third time that the president has ordered an increase in his Armed Forces since the invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, although in the Russian military sphere they believe that it will not be the last due to the evolution of the war in Ukraine and due to “potential conflicts” in the future. .

The balance has been published a day after the United Kingdom Intelligence services, citing data from kyiv, stated that the Russian Army has endured a third month suffering “new highs of daily casualties” in Ukraine, as well as a fifth month with maximum accumulated losses.

In another order of things, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army has indicated that the anti-aircraft defense systems have shot down during the night of Thursday and the early hours of Friday a total of 33 drones launched against various points in the country, in the midst of the intensification of the Russian offensives in eastern Ukraine.

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense has noted in a statement on its Telegram account that in the last few hours it has destroyed 32 drones launched against the Voronezh, Kursk and Belgorod regions, as well as a drone and two unmanned boats launched against the Crimean peninsula, annexed in 2014.
