This Thursday (12/05), Fluminense met their opponents in the first phase of the 2025 Club World Cup, as the World Cup is called. The competition takes place between June 15th and July 13th, in an unprecedented format, with 32 teams.

Champion of the Copa Libertadores da América in 2023, Flu is guaranteed in the tournament. Tricolor was in Group F.

What is the format of the new Club World Cup and what is the path to the knockout final?

The two best teams in each group will qualify for the round of 16, which will be played in single knockout games, as well as the quarterfinals, semifinals and the final. There will be no third place competition.

In cases of a draw in decisive games, there is extra time, before the game goes to penalties.

Where will the new FIFA Club World Cup take place?

The United States will host the 2025 Club World Cup. The tournament will be played in 11 cities. Orlando will have two stadiums. Nine headquarters are on the East Coast, and only two are on the West Coast (Los Angeles and Seattle). The final will be played at MetLife Stadium in New York.
