The Government wants to facilitate the entry of immigrants into Portugal to complete the works of the Recovery and Resilience Plan. Around 80,000 are needed to complete the works.
Since June, the Government has been analyzing the creation of a mechanism to allow immigrants to enter the country to work in the construction sector. Companies will have to guarantee employment, residence and training contracts.
He adds that the objective of this measure is to find more workers to complete the works of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The President of the Liberal Initiative, Rui Rocha, says that immigration is necessary for the country.
“If people enter with a work contract, with a work visa, if public entities have the administrative capacity to qualify these people and if they have their income, we cannot delay the country any further”, he states.
In an interview with Jornal de Notícias, the President of the Association of Civil Construction and Public Works Industries says that in the last five years the construction sector gained 89 thousand workers.
But more than 80 thousand are still needed to respond to the works of the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
