Bob Dylan has nothing but praise for t, who plays the famed singer-songwriter in the upcoming “A Complete Unknown” film about Dylan’s life.
on Wednesday to share his excitement for the biopic and his faith in Chalamet’s taking on the role.
“There’s a movie about me opening soon called A Complete Unknown (what a title!),” Dylan wrote about the movie that opens Christmas Day.
“Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role,” Dylan continued. “Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me.”
The message “floored” Chalamet, he said.
“I am so grateful,” on Thursday.. “Thank you Bob.”
“A Complete Unknown” is based on Elijah Wald’s 2015 book, “Dylan Goes Electric!: Newport, Seeger, Dylan, and the Night That Split the Sixties,” which Dylan called “a fantastic retelling of events from the early ’60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport,” in his X post.
“After you’ve seen the movie read the book,” Dylan instructed fans.
The “fiasco at Newport” refers to when Dylan played his first show with electric instruments at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, which was met with controversy from fans and critics alike who chided Dylan for moving away from his folksy sound and performing with a rock band.
Chalamet’s covers of “Like a Rolling Stone” and “Girl From The North Country” were released on Friday, ahead of the film’s release on Christmas Day.
