Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi will travel to Paris for Saturday’s reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral. He could also use the visit to France to negotiations with the newly elected US President Donald Trump, who will also attend the ceremony, two diplomatic sources said. TASR informs about it according to a Reuters report.

According to these sources there are efforts to organize a meeting between the two leaders of the countries. However, any plans will probably be confirmed just before the meeting and the talks would be confidential, they added.

Ukrainian delegation met with Trump’s incoming national security adviser Mike Waltz in Washington on Wednesday and his special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg. This is how Kyiv tries to win support in the war against Russia from the incoming US administration, said a source familiar with the meeting. The Ukrainian delegation was led by the head of the president’s office Andriy Jermak.

The office of French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the head of state will meet with Trump in the presidential palace on Saturday a subsequently also with Zelenský. However, he did not confirm trilateral talks, although a Reuters source indicated that such a meeting would be possible.

Given that France finds itself in a politically difficult situation after the fall of the government on Thursday, Macron will try to present himself in a positive light on the international stage. He could do just that bringing the mentioned two leaders togetherwhich he would underline the key role of Paris in supporting Ukraine and its future negotiations, added the diplomats.
