PT president criticized former president’s statement about pacifying the country with amnesty: “We can’t accept it, they wanted to kill Lula”

The national president of the PT, , criticized this Saturday (Dec 7, 2024) the proposal defended by the former president (PL) and his allies for amnesty for those involved in the acts of January 8 in 2023.

Bolsonaro on November 28 that minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the STF, and the president (PT) should give in to the amnesty proposal in order, according to the former president, to pacify Brazil.

“We are dealing with people who have no appreciation for democracy and cannot go unpunished. I’ve already heard Bolsonaro saying that there must be amnesty because it pacifies. The peace they want is the peace of the cemeteries, preferably all of us there. So we can’t accept this, they wanted to kill Lula, people, it’s very serious.”stated Gleisi.

She made the statement when speaking to journalists at the exit of the National Directory meeting, held in Brasília this Saturday (Dec 7, 2024). Gleisi defended punishment for those involved in the alleged coup attempt “because there was no adequate punishment in relation to the 1964 coup”.
