Beaver Creek (Colorado) – The Swiss Thomas Tumler unexpectedly moved to the top of the rankings in the first round of the men’s World Cup giant slalom in Beaver Creek on Sunday. Even more surprising than that is the 35-year-old’s lead; only the Slovenian Zan Kranjec kept the gap under one second at 0.56 seconds. In third place came the Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath (+1.01). The best of six Austrians who competed was Stefan Brennsteiner in tenth place (+1.54).
