The actress updated the health status of her ex-husband, the actor, this week. Demi started living with Bruce after the artist was diagnosed with frontotemporal (FTD) last year. In an interview with CNN, the actress, who is currently in theaters with The Substance, said that the artist is “stable”.
Demi said it is extremely important that people diagnosed with the disease find “love and joy”. The actress also opened up about the progression of dementia. “Obviously, it’s very difficult and it’s not something I would wish on anyone. And there is a lot of loss,” she said. “But there is also a lot of beauty and gifts that can come from it.”
Regarding the friendly relationship she maintained with her ex-husband after the divorce, Demi commented that this “came from the recognition that we are family”. “We will always be a family, just in a different way,” he said. The Hollywood actors were married between 1987 and 2000, but maintained a friendly relationship after the separation due to the three daughters they had together. Willis also has two younger daughters from his current marriage to Emma Heming.
Bruce Willis Diagnosis
Bruce Willis’ family had already announced, in April 2022, that the actor would step away from his career after a diagnosis of aphasia, a language disorder that affects the ability to communicate. On February 16, 2023, it was announced that the artist had also been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which alters behavior and personality. The diagnosis is the same as that of journalist Maurício Kubrusly, who recently won a documentary, Kubrusly – Mistério Semper ha de Pintar por lá.
