The president of , , commented this Saturday (7) on the 2022 coup attempt and stated that the military intends a “cemetery peace, preferably with us all there.”

Gleisi also refuted the former president’s statement that the 8/1 amnesty would pacify the country.

“We are dealing with people who have no price for democracy and cannot go unpunished. I have already heard Bolsonaro saying that there must be amnesty because it pacifies. The peace they want is the peace of the cemeteries, preferably all of us there. So we can’t accept that, they wanted to kill him, people, it’s very serious”, he stated.

The statement was made during a press conference held this Saturday after a meeting of the PT National Directory.

“These people wanted to carry out a coup within the military dictatorship, that is, not to let the reopening happen,” he also said.

The Directory meeting aims to finalize a party resolution for the Lula (PT) government, which includes the party’s position against amnesty for those convicted on January 8, 2023.

In the document, the party also once again defended the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) to amend article 142 of the Constitution so as to no longer allow interpretations that the Armed Forces can be considered a moderating Power.
