Police seized 5 firearms, 3 bags of cocaine and 1 grenade in the apartment in Pinheiros
A 31-year-old man in a psychotic episode was arrested red-handed on Friday night (Dec 6, 2024) after shooting at military police officers inside an apartment in Pinheiros, an upscale neighborhood in the West Zone of São Paulo. According to the (Public Security Secretariat) there was an arsenal on site. Read the note at (998 – kB).
A team from Rota (Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar) was called at around 9pm, after the suspect fired shots into the apartment. The man allegedly refused to open the door and fired again, hitting a neighboring apartment.
The Gate (Special Tactical Actions Group) was called to negotiate the surrender of the shooter, who was alone and emotionally disturbed.
Due to the man’s aggressiveness, the police broke down the main door of the property with the help of a police dog, which managed to immobilize him.
Due to his injuries, the suspect was taken to the Emergency Room at Hospital Beneficência Portuguesa.
The seized arsenal consisted of:
- 1 762 caliber rifle;
- 1 357 revolver;
- 2 12 and 38 caliber carbines;
- 1 9mm pistol;
- 1 granada;
- 320 ammunition of different calibers.
The police also seized ballistic vests and three bags of cocaine.
The case remains under investigation and was registered as firearm discharge, drugs for personal consumption without authorization or in disagreement and attempted murder by the 14th Police District – Pinheiros.
