The new book The Phenomenon of the Announcer is dedicated to the behind the scenes of the admired and respected profession of its time. It contains 10 interviews and nine medallions of the most famous and popular Slovak program announcers. Among them is the unforgettable Emma Tekelyová, who was present at the christening ceremony. As she revealed in an interview with the author Silvia Lispuchová, she broke her long silence.
“There, we really honestly answer what we experienced, what troubled us, what made us happy, what the profession was like and what its legacy is, for example for today,” began Emma. “I, for example, was very, very honest in that book, because for many years I did not publish how I was literally bullied from television, if you can say that.” shocked the former TV announcer. “And since it was just before the revolution, I actually had no idea that something would thunder, the curtain would fall, and that I would return to television,” she added.
According to her, this is a message for people who do not succeed at work in life, they must find a new profession, pick themselves up and move on. “Because this is what was waiting for me. Finally, I returned to television. I think that by then I was already more hardened and I was already going after my things. I wanted to do author’s work and be more immersed in it,” explained Tekelyová.
