A fuel warehouse near Florence was engulfed in flames: 2 lives were extinguished, they are reported missing!

At least two people died and three others are missing after a fire in a fuel storage facility at a power plant near Florence on Monday. the local authorities said. TASR reports according to AFP and ANSA agencies.

At least nine people were injured in a fire at the Italian energy company Eni’s factory in Calenzano. They were taken to hospital, two of them are in critical condition. The company announced in a statement that the fire was brought under control by firefighters and that no fuel tank was at risk. The rescue operation and firefighting work continue.

Experts are currently assessing the possible pollution of the surrounding watercourses as well. Residents within a radius of five kilometers from the power plant were urged not to leave their homes and to close their doors and windows. The authorities have already started investigating the cause of the fire and the possible consequences of the incident.
