Kisses are really simple cookies to make. Follow the recipe and you won’t have any difficulty preparing them.
Ingredients:
Cake:
- 350 g of wheat flour,
- 180 ml buttermilk,
- 70 g of butter,
- 50 g sugar,
- egg in size L or XL,
- a tablespoon of ground cinnamon,
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder,
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda,
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Apple filling:
- 250 g apples,
- 75 g of brown sugar,
- 3 tablespoons of water,
- 2 tablespoons of butter,
- a spoon of potato flour,
- a teaspoon of cinnamon,
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg.
Additionally:
- powdered sugar for sprinkling.
How to do it:
Prepare the apple filling. Peel the apples and remove the seeds. Cut them into half-moons. Heat the butter in a pan. Add fruit and cover them with sugar. Fry everything over low heat for 2-3 minutes. Mix water with potato flour in a glass. Pour the mixture into the pan and mix well. Season the filling with cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside to cool.
Prepare the dough. Melt the butter and leave to cool. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a bowl. Add egg, buttermilk and butter. Mix everything with a wooden spoon until a uniform mass is formed. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky. If it cannot be rolled, add flour a spoonful at a time until you obtain the right consistency.
Place the dough on the counter dusted with flour. Form slightly flattened balls with your hands with the diameter of a large walnut. Using a rolling pin, roll them out into patties about 0.5 cm thick.
Prepare Apple Kisses. Take the rolled out dough disc and place it on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Place 1-2 tablespoons of apple filling in the center. Fold the disc in half, gently pressing the top of the dough to prevent the fruit from leaking out. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
Place the baking tray in the oven preheated to 190 degrees Celsius. Bake Apple Kisses for 20-25 minutesuntil nicely browned.
Remove and leave to cool completely before removing from the baking tray. Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Kisses can be prepared in many versions. You just need to change the filling inside. If you don’t feel like eating apples, white cheese will be a great filling. you can also serve them with apple ones, because they go great together. There is nothing stopping you from hiding chocolate cream, other fruits (e.g. berries) or forest fruit jam inside.
