Leandro da Silva Rodrigues, 37 years old, was arrested at his own residence on Sunday night (8), located on Rua Guilhermino Bastos, in the Triângulo neighborhood, in the Second District of Rio Branco. He is accused and a confessed defendant of having killed, with several stab wounds, the 16-year-old teenager Geovana Souza de Silva, on a public street, in the early hours of this Saturday (7), at the intersection of Travessa Coral and Rua Beija-Flor, in Areal neighborhood, in the Second District region of Rio Branco.
According to police information, soldiers from the 2nd Battalion were on the scene since the early hours of Saturday to arrest Leandro, who was seen by witnesses killing the teenager.
After the police received information, they laid siege to Leandro’s house, but he tried to escape by jumping over the wall, however, he ended up being captured by the police.
Leandro already had a protective measure not to approach Geovana, as, according to the document, the accused had already physically attacked and tried to kill the victim several times.
He still has convictions for robbery and theft and, at least six times, he was imprisoned at the Francisco de Oliveira Conde Prison.
He was taken to the Flagrantes Police Station (Defla) and then sent to the Women’s Assistance Police Station (Deam). A judge issued an arrest warrant against Leandro and he must undergo a custody hearing this Monday (9).
Remember the case
Teenager Geovana Souza de Silva, aged 16, was the victim of feminicide on public roads in the early hours of this Saturday (7), at the intersection of Travessa Coral and Rua Beija-Flor, in the Areal neighborhood, in the Second District region of Rio Branco .
According to information from witnesses, Geovana, despite being only 16 years old, was already living on the streets and also in a marital relationship with a person identified as Leandro, who was allegedly the author of the stab wounds that killed the teenager. One blow hit the back, and another hit the victim’s chest, who ran to escape her husband, but fell lifeless in the middle of the street. After the action, the criminal fled the scene.
The witness who witnessed the couple’s fight and also the feminicide called the police and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), which sent an 08 basic support ambulance for initial assistance. The advanced support unit was then sent, but upon arriving at the scene, the professionals were only able to confirm Geovana’s death.
Military police officers from the 2nd Battalion were called, gathered information and began efforts to locate the perpetrator of the homicide, but, to date, no one has been arrested.
The area was isolated by military police, who requested the presence of criminal forensics and autopsy assistants from the Legal Medical Institute (IML). After the expert work, the body was sent to the IML for cadaveric examinations.
Civil Police agents, from the Ready Employment Team (EPE), were also on site to collect the first information. The case will be investigated by the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Department (DHPP).
The police spoke with Lindaura Inácio de Souza, Geovana’s grandmother, and confirmed that her 16-year-old granddaughter was homeless and had an abusive relationship with Leandro.
