However, just watering or changing the water may not be enough, the tree will start to fall apart anyway. A Christmas tree without needles looks unsightly and loses its festive glow. If you want the Christmas tree to stand longer, add two ingredients to the water you water it with: sugar and salt. The sugar will nourish the tree, and the salt will help retain moisture in the needles, so they won’t fall off.
