Cruzeiro ended its participation in Brasileirão 2024 in ninth place, after beating Juventude, this Sunday (08/12), 1-0, at Alfredo Jaconi. Despite the victory, the performance did not please a large part of the Cruzeiro fans, who are calling for Fernando Diniz to be fired.
According to the radio station “Itatiaia”, in Belo Horizonte, Diniz will not remain in charge of Raposa in 2025. Despite the information and repercussion of the possible departure in the local press, Cruzeiro has not yet announced whether or not Diniz will remain in charge of the team in 2025.

What did Diniz say about possible dismissal from Cruzeiro?
In a press conference this Sunday, the coach reacted to rumors about his departure from Raposa.
— I’m serious and I treat football with affection, love, and my life will go on. I feel extremely disrespectedbecause I found out from the press. Alexandre called me, said that anything could happen, but something very vague. I’ve known since Thursday, they know more about what’s going to happen to me than I do. A very big disrespect, really, because I had countless proposals and came to Cruzeiro. There was no clarity on things. — said the coach.
— I feel very disrespected, and I respect people. There wasn’t that. There was a lot of talk, but I already knew, I’m not stupid. When these things come (…) I’ve been in football for 40 years, and that’s what we have to know how to live with. The press knows beforehand, we live more outside than inside. It only counts if you win the game — added Diniz.

Diniz’s season at Cruzeiro
Runner-up in the Sula-Americana, losing the final to Racing Club, Cruzeiro was unable to have regularity in the Brasileirão. The team, still with Seabra, managed to compete for a place in the G4 of the competition, but the drop in performance only guaranteed ninth place.
Cruzeiro has been experiencing a lack of continental titles since 1998. The South American Championship was the main goal of the season.
