A dinner to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Grupo Voto in São Paulo, on Monday night (9), brought together two governors and leaders who belonged to the () and (PL) governments, as well as members of the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva administration (PT).
Sitting at the same table in the center of a room at Hípica Paulista, in the south of the capital, fierce political opponents socialized respectfully and even applauded each other.
The entity was created by. It operates in the so-called “business diplomacy”, promoting events that bring together politicians and representatives of the private sector, as do the groups Lide and Esfera Brasil, for example.
The current government’s attorney general, Jorge Messias, and the director general of the Federal Police, Andrei Rodrigues, were present from the current government, both honored at the event. Also at the dinner was lawyer Marco Aurelio Carvalho, coordinator of the Prerrogativas group, which is close to Lula and the PT.
Messias, who served in the Dilma Rousseff administration, and Carvalho, whose group stood out in criticizing the so-called “coup” against the former president, greeted former president Michel Temer (MDB), another honoree.
From the Bolsonaro government, Admiral Flávio Rocha, who was Secretary of Strategic Affairs of the Presidency, and Bruno Bianco, who held the position of Attorney General of the Union, were present.
Governors Eduardo Leite (PSDB-RS) and , both listed as presidential candidates, also attended and were honored by the Voto group. Two other pre-candidates, Ratinho Jr. (PSD-PR) and Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos-SP) — had confirmed their presence, but did not go.
Others present were the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), the state secretary of Government, Gilberto Kassab, and former governor Rodrigo Garcia.
From the business world, among others, banker André Esteves and industrialist Jorge Gerdau were there.
The fact that political rivals stood side by side in a civilized manner was welcomed by several speeches.
