To prepare tuna and rice salad, you need a few ingredients from the grocery store. Don’t worry, you won’t find extravagant or expensive products on your shopping list.

Ingredients:

  • rice – 3 bags
  • pickled/canned/plain cucumbers – 1 jar/several pieces
  • red onion – 2 pieces
  • tuna in its own juice – 3 cans
  • eggs – 6 pieces, hard-boiled
  • canned corn – 1 piece
  • mayonnaise – to taste
  • salt and pepper – to taste

Preparing the tuna salad itself will only take you a moment, but you will need to wait 2-3 hours after preparing it for the flavors to meld together in the refrigerator.. Before you do this, start by boiling water with a pinch of salt for the rice. Throw it in when the pot starts boiling and cook until semi-hard (al dente).

When it’s ready, drain the rice (if removing from the bag) and leave to cool. In the meantime, while the rice is preparing, you can also hard-boil the eggs, cut the cucumbers and onion into cubes.

Remove the tuna from the can, drain and shred it with a fork to make it lighter in texture and easier to mix with the other salad ingredients. Drain the corn as well. Place the rice in a large bowl, add the cucumbers and other ingredients. Season with salt, pepper and mayonnaise.
