"Pulled a knife": Braga bus drivers rise up against verbal and physical attacks

Faced with the increase in the number of verbal and physical attacks, the company that manages public transport in Braga launched a campaign against violence. The objective is to raise awareness among passengers of the importance of always having an environment of mutual respect.

Braga bus drivers have reported a significant increase in attacks, both verbal and physical, by passengers. In response to the situation, the company responsible for the city’s public transport launched an awareness campaign against violence, calling for mutual respect between passengers and workers.

To reinforce the message, posters with a simple request were posted on all buses, in an attempt to avoid episodes like those faced by drivers like José Silva, the target of aggressive behavior by passengers.

Although most complaints refer to verbal violence, situations often arise when drivers are simply following orders from above.

The company points out that incidents are more common at times of greater traffic intensity, when tension in vehicles tends to increase. The campaign places the drivers themselves as protagonists, highlighting the importance of promoting a respectful environment during trips.

Currently, Transportes Urbanos de Braga has a team of more than 250 drivers.
