The Kremlin said on Tuesday that the war in Ukraine will continue until the goals set by Russian President Vladimir Putin are met.through negotiations or military operations. TASR informs about it according to a Reuters report.
Putin is demanding that Ukraine abandon its ambitions to join NATO and also withdraw from four areas Moscow has already seized. Kiev rejected these terms, saying that accepting them would be tantamount to capitulation.
“The special military operation will end when we achieve all the goals set by the president and the commander-in-chief,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters. “These objectives can be achieved through a special military operation or appropriate negotiations,” he stated. However, according to his statements, there are currently no negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv, as “the Ukrainian side rejects them”.
However, according to the head of the SVR intelligence service, Sergei Naryshkin, Russia is close to achieving its military goals in Ukraine, and the situation on the Kiev front is unfavorable, Russian news agencies reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi spoke out on Monday in favor of a diplomatic settlement of the war, but at the same time he also brought up the idea of deploying foreign troops in Ukraine before the country becomes a member of NATO.
