The (National Council of Justice) approved a resolution this Tuesday (10) that regulates the issuance of death certificates for victims recognized by the National Truth Commission.
The rule determines that the death certificates of people killed and missing during the dictatorial regime must record, as the cause of death, “unnatural, violent death, caused by the Brazilian State in the context of the systematic persecution of the population identified as political dissidents of the dictatorial regime established in 1964”.
“It is a legitimate reckoning with the past”, stated the president of the CNJ, minister. On December 10th, International Animal Day is celebrated.
The measure was proposed by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship and unanimously accepted by the CNJ plenary.
The portfolio holder, , highlighted that the resolution is a response to the recommendations made ten years ago by the National Truth Commission.
“This is yet another recovery for the dignity of those who had their rights denied, degraded and forcibly stolen,” he stated.
