Conmebol announced the date of the draw for the pre-Libertadores phase. The definition of the clashes will take place on December 19th, a Thursday, at 12pm (Brazil time), at the entity’s headquarters, in Asunción, Paraguay. Bahia and Corinthians are the Brazilian representatives at this stage of the tournament.
Conmebol will define the clashes in the first phase and the schedule of the knockout sequence. Back in the Libertadores after 35 years, Bahia will enter the second phase of the competition. To reach the group stage, the tricolor will have to go through two rounds.
In the first phase of the pre-Libertadores, six teams face each other. The three classified advance to the second phase, when they will join 13 other teams. The 16 clubs will face each other in round-trip clashes. At this moment, Bahia will not be able to face a club from the same country.
The eight winners of the duels move on to the third phase. Now, clubs from the same country can face each other. The four classifieds will be distributed in the group stage.
The pre-Libertadores phase will start on February 5th. Bahia’s debut in the competition will take place the week of February 19th. The return game will be the following week, which has February 26th as a base.
