The Russian President also spoke with the Prime Minister of Hungary about bilateral business cooperation.

A peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine is still out of the question. Russian President Vladimir Putin said this in a telephone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Wednesday. According to the 444.hu server, the office of the Russian president first issued a report about the interview initiated by the Hungarian prime minister, and then Orbán also confirmed it on Facebook, reports the TASR correspondent in Budapest.

According to the presidential office, Putin and Orbán “discussed a number of current issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, which in general is gradually developing, paying particular attention to the further support of mutually beneficial projects in the energy sector.”

Politicians also exchanged opinions on the topic of Ukraine. Orbán expressed his desire for a joint search for a political and diplomatic solution to the crisis and recalled, among other things, his relations with many Western leaders.

He ruled out a peace settlement

The Russian head of state outlined his assessment of the current development of the situation around Ukraine and stated that the destructive direction of the Kyiv regime continues to exclude the possibility of a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

The 444.hu server noted that Orbán published the report on the phone call on Facebook only after the Kremlin’s statement was issued. The prime minister wrote in the status that he had an hour-long phone conversation with the Russian president in the morning and repeated his government’s well-known claims that the most dangerous weeks of the war are currently underway and that he will use all available means to support the ceasefire and peace. The server added that Putin and Orbán last negotiated in July, when the Hungarian prime minister, after assuming the presidency of the Council of the European Union, began his memorable “peace mission” and traveled to Moscow as part of it.

Orban met with re-elected US President Donald Trump in Florida earlier this week, who has pledged to reach a peace deal within hours of taking office in January.
