The body of a drug addict, identified only as Mauro, was found in a wooded area on Tuesday afternoon (10), next to the Mercado Municipal Francisco Assis Marinheiro, popularly known as Mercado da Estação, in the Estação Experimental neighborhood, in Rio Branco.
According to police information, Mauro had been admitted to the Rio Branco emergency room last Monday, where he was diagnosed with tuberculosis, but fled the hospital. This Tuesday afternoon, he was using drugs with other drug addicts in the forest area when, suddenly, he fell ill.
His companions took him to a grassy area next to the market, and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called. An advanced support ambulance was sent to the scene, but when paramedics arrived, Mauro was already dead.
The area was isolated by military police from the 1st Battalion for forensic work. Initially, experts found no marks of violence on the victim’s body.
After the examination was completed, Mauro’s body was removed and sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) for cadaveric examinations. The Military Police registered a police report, and the case will be investigated by the Civil Police.
