A pastor from the Assembly of God Pentecostal da Fé, located in Altiplano Cabo Branco, in Brazil, sparked controversy on social media by carrying out a peculiar act. Clóvis Bernardo was filmed putting olive oil in car engines as a way of blessing the vehicle. The action was followed by the owners, who appeared to take the gesture naturally.
Although the use of olive oil is a widely recognized symbol in Christian religious practices, representing anointing, consecration and protection, its application in vehicle engines has raised questions. Experts point out that, despite the spiritual symbolism, olive oil can cause internal damage to the engine, compromising its functioning.
The unusual gesture attracted both curiosity and criticism. While some see the attitude as an expression of belief, others warn of the practical risks of mixing symbolic rituals with mechanical components.
