On Monday, December 9, President Peter Pellegrini (49) had an official audience with Pope Francis in the Vatican (87). The Slovak head of state brought him a gift in the form of a unique painting for the meeting. As he writes, the work of art is surprisingly connected with Slovak presenter Krištof Králik, who is known from the show Ruža pre nevesta.
“I gave the Holy Father a personal gift with deep symbolism. It is a picture on one side of which is the image of Pope Francis himself and on the other side of the patron saint of Slovakia, the Seven-splendid Virgin Mary. It is a memory of the Holy Father’s visit to Slovakia, which he concluded with a Holy Mass in the national Basilica in Šaštín. The three-dimensional painting is the work of Slovak artist Juraj Králik, who created it using a special technique from 9840 coins. They are always connected in pairs and inserted perpendicularly into the substrate so that each side creates a separate image,” the president explained on the social network. You can find the PHOTO in the gallery below the article.
As Plus 7 days writes, the artist Juraj Králik is the father of the well-known presenter Krištof Králik. Juraj is an artist of global proportions. His works were presented not only in Europe, but also in America, Asia and Australia. From the beginning, his creations were unique.
He introduced himself to the art world with works created from military badges. A few years later, he presented a painting created from invalid Slovak penny coins, which were given to him by Ivan Šramko, the governor of the National Bank of Slovakia.
“We decided to combine the portrait of the Holy Father with a mosaic that represents our statue in Šaštín, the Virgin Mary with Jesus Christ, to which all pilgrims in Slovakia go to pray. So the painting even contains another message where it says that the mother should pray for us,” explained Peter Pellegrini in the video you can watch below.
