Sandim, Olival, Lever and Crestuma at the center of the exchange of accusations. Câmara circumvents the “lame excuse” and assumes the expenses.
Sandim, Olival, Lever e Crestuma were separate parishes in Vila Nova de Gaia. Until in 2013, and like many others, they became together.
The administrative reform reduced the administrative structure of the third most populous municipality in the country from 24 to 15 parishes and unions of parishes. Sandim, Olival, Lever and Crestuma became just a union of parishes.
Now, the idea is separate again these four parishes. Among 150 separation requests, analyzed by the Technical Unit of the Assembly of the Republic, this case was there.
The Gaiense case was sinker. PSD e He arrives rejected and “betrayed” os inhabitants locals, accuses the Gaia City Council – led by the PS, with Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues as president.
In a statement sent to ZAP, the municipality cites the opposition’s justification: financial sustainability. “Note that the difference in the sustainability of the four parishes is only 370 thousand euros“, reacts the Chamber, which recalls that the total budget is R$284 million.
“It is clear that it wouldn’t have been just that“, he suggests, while ensuring that this separation of parishes “generates needs on a scale that City Council can and should comply“.
The City Council will not get “excessively” involved in this debate, but complaint the position of the PSD and Chega.
And it will create “the financial situation so that it will be impossible to justify the lead to desegregation”.
Thus, the Gaia City Council will pay for the process. It will fully cover the “possible imbalance” resulting from the disaggregation of the four parishes, sharing the difference with DGAL – General Directorate of Local Authorities.
Because financial justification is a “lame excuse” which the Chamber can thus circumvent.
The Gaia Chamber therefore hopes that, in the next vote, the Parish Working Group in the Assembly of the Republic will vote in favor.
