Puff pastry with ham and cheese is a quick and simple recipe for a successful, delicious snack or appetizer. You can successfully serve them at any party: birthday, name day, and even New Year’s Eve. They taste great both warm and cold – you can even pack them in your lunch box and eat them at school or work. The big advantage of this dish is the simplicity of preparation – it does not require long-term preparations or specialized skills. If you want, you can also add your favorite ingredients – tomatoes, olives or other vegetables. Experiment as much as you want.
To prepare puff pastry snacks with cheese and hamyou will need a few simple and easily available ingredients:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry,
- 50 ml tomato passata,
- 100 g of good quality cooked ham, sliced,
- 100 g of cheddar cheese, sliced
- 1 egg,
- ½ teaspoon dried basil.
Unroll the puff pastry flat on the counter. Spread them with a thin layer of tomato passata. Spread slices of ham and then cheese evenly on top of the dough. Roll them up as tightly as you can and seal the seam by pressing firmly.
Using a sharp knife, cut the roulade into slices about 2.5 cm thick. Place the rolls on an oven tray lined with baking paper. Beat the egg in a bowl and brush it over the top of the puff pastry. Sprinkle everything with dried basil.
Put the puff pastry with ham and cheese in the oven set to 200 degrees Celsius and bake for about 15 minutes or until nicely golden. Remove and leave to cool on a rack.
Serve the rolls warm or cold. If not consumed, store in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Consume within 24 hours.
