Bolsonarism has a dispute between ‘moles’ and ‘little clubs’ – 12/12/2024 – Bruno Boghossian

At the beginning of the year, the Bolsonarist bench received the keys to the Chamber’s most important collegiate body. The group took its specialties to the presidency of the Constitution and Justice Commission: it uncovered ultra-conservative agendas, made a lot of political noise with few concrete effects, produced angry content for the networks and trampled on the Constitution itself.

The extreme right took control of the CCJ thanks to a rotation that favors the largest parties in the House. The choice for the position was made with the approval of the center of Arthur Lira (PP) and a wing of the PL considered less radical. Everyone knew that the Bolsonaristas would use the commission as a playground for delay.

The gang’s fun was predictably sinister. The commission approved the prohibition of legal, an unconstitutional project that authorizes states to legislate on weapons, a proposal to return to the time of fraud and a handful of environmental setbacks.

Most of the disgrace was fought before reaching the vote in the Chamber plenary, but it served for the internal consumption of Bolsonarism, in the form of moral victories and stuffing for ideological scarecrows. When the matter was more serious, the adults in the center took control of the proposals or made a direct intervention, as in the case of the amnesty for coup plotters.

The biggest contribution from this bench was recorded in the penultimate section of 2024, on Wednesday (11). During the vote on the project, Bolsonaro supporters were divided. The most radical denounced the measure as a trap by the left to prohibit students from recording videos of indoctrination in schools.

One deputy even suggested that right-wing colleagues who voted in favor of the text were “soft asses”. It even came down to Nikolas Ferreira (PL), unsuspected of being a moderate. Another Bolsonaro parliamentarian responded, complaining about the accusation and ironizing the need to “ask for permission to enter the conservative club.” The episode could serve as a psychotechnical test for future commissions.
