The sent a letter to the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, requesting an investigation into the acquisition of a mining company by a Chinese state-owned company.
Mineração Taboca was purchased by Nonferrous Trade, in an operation that involves the Pitinga mine (AM), which has metals such as niobium, tantalum and possibly uranium.
In the document, the parliamentarian expresses concern about possible risks to national sovereignty.
“This acquisition could represent a potential risk to national sovereignty, the management of strategic resources for Brazil and even environmental preservation in the Amazon”, says the deputy.
According to him, “the exploration of essential minerals for high-technology industries, such as nuclear energy and defense, demands greater rigor in control and monitoring.”
The parliamentarian also asks Gonet to propose a public civil action to ensure respect for constitutional norms regarding the exploitation of mineral resources by foreign companies.
