MotoGP, the main motorcycling category in the world, will once again have a stage in Brazil from March 2026. The announcement was made this Thursday (12) at the Centro Cultural Oscar Niemeyer, in Goiânia, the city that will host the race at the Autódromo International Ayrton Senna.

“We have good memories of the races held in 1987, 1988 and 1989. The Brazilian public was always very excited. Goiânia has a great circuit. We have always dreamed of this return”, declared the executive director of Dorna (the entity that owns the rights to the category), Carmelo Ezpeleta.

Who also celebrated the return of MotoGP races to Brazil was Brazilian rider Eric Granado, who competes in the MotoE category at the World Championships and SuperBike: “Goiânia has the best Brazilian race track for motorbikes. It will be a show.”

According to the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna will undergo improvements, which should cost around R$50 million, to host the race: “Brazil will once again have this great international event. We will begin adapting the racetrack from January next year, with work on the track, but also on the medical center and cabins.”

The last time a MotoGP race was held in Brazil was in 2004, when the race was held at the now extinct Autódromo de Jacarepaguá, in Rio de Janeiro.
