Around 20.81 million families will be reached by the income transfer program in December
This Friday (Dec 13, 2024) the payment of the December installment of Bolsa Família will be made to beneficiaries who have the NIS (Social Registration Number) with an ending of 4. The minimum value of the program is R$ 600, however it can reach R$ 678.36 with the new additional.
According to information from the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, in December 20.81 million families will be reached by the Federal Government’s income transfer program. In total, R$14.07 billion will be spent on benefits.
Payment of 3 more benefits will also be made. Families with pregnant women and children aged 7 to 18 receive an additional R$50, those with children up to 6 years old receive R$150. The Nutriz Family Variable Benefit also pays 6 installments of R$50 to mothers of babies up to 6 months of age, as a way of ensuring the child’s nutrition during the period.
Residents of Rio Grande do Sul who were affected by the floods that occurred between April and July, as well as residents of 4 other states in Brazil, have already received the Bolsa Família payment on December 10, regardless of the end of the Social Registration Number. In addition to Rio Grande do Sul, the benefit has already been distributed in cities in Amazonas, São Paulo, Paraná and Rondônia.

- Amazonas – 59 municipalities;
- Paraná – 7 municipalities;
- Rondônia – 52 municipalities;
- São Paulo – 21 municipalities;
Approximately 2.74 million families are covered by the Bolsa Família protection rule in December. The rule, which came into effect in June last year, guarantees that families whose members get a job and improve their income can receive half the benefit for up to 2 years, as long as each member has an income equivalent to up to half the minimum wage.
