Electricity: some free market customers will save more than R$200 in 2025

ERSE also revealed that, with regard to natural gas offers, “the savings in the liberalized market are zero, with no commercial offer more competitive than the regulated market, for the three types of consumers”.

The regulator released, on Wednesday, the bulletins of commercial offers of electricity and natural gas for the fourth quarter of this year, and “in the comparison between the most competitive electricity offer and the regulated market offer, it is concluded that consumers with higher annual consumption can save more if they opt for the liberalized market”.

Thus, ERSE indicated, the type 1 consumeri.e. a couple without children, an annual electricity consumption of 1,900 kilowatt-hours (kWh), no-load consumption of 40% and contracted power of 3.45 kVA (kilovoltampere) “can save 45 euros/year in electricity contract (10% savings), while type 3 consumer [família com quatro filhos, um consumo anual de 10.900 kWh, consumo em vazio de 40% e potência contratada de 13.8 kVA] can save 211 euros/year (savings of 8%), for the same type of contract”.

In the case of dual supply, “it is the type 1 consumer who presents the greatest savings in relation to the regulated market, with a value of 10 euros/year (savings of 2%)”.

The regulator highlighted that “among suppliers with electricity and dual offers, not all have commercial offers that are more competitive than the regulated tariff”, adding that “of the 23 suppliers with electricity offers, between 13 and 16 have offers lower than the regulated tariff , depending on the consumer type”.

For type 1 consumers, the “commercial electricity offer with the lowest monthly bill is from G9Energy (Net Promo 7×7) with a value of 33.73 euros/month, which corresponds to a 10% discount and a monthly saving of 3 , 76 euros compared to the regulated tariff”.

For the type 2 consumer (couple with two children, with annual consumption of 5,000 kWh, no-load consumption of 40% and contracted power of 6.9 kVA) the commercial electricity supply with the lowest monthly bill is also from G9 Energy (Net Promo 7×7) “with a value of 86.26 euros/month, which corresponds to a 10% discount and a monthly saving of 9.40 euros compared to the regulated tariff”.

Finally, for the type 3 consumer“the commercial electricity offer with the lowest monthly bill is from GoldEnergy (Monoeletrico ACP 04/24) with a value of 190.56 euros/month, which corresponds to a discount of 8% and a monthly saving of 17.57 euros in relation to the regulated tariff”.

In the case of dual offers, for the type 1 consumer the G9 Energy remains (53.13 euros/month, which corresponds to a 2% discount and a monthly saving of 0.84 euros compared to the regulated one), as for the type 2 (126.35 euros/month, which corresponds to a 1% discount and a monthly saving of 0.79 euros compared to the regulated one). For type 3 consumers, the dual offer with the lowest monthly bill, in addition to the regulated tariff, is “from Repsol (Santander Dual Mundo 123 Plan) with a value of 275.31 euros/month”, 2% higher than the regulated rate.

Natural gas

ERSE also revealed that, with regard to natural gas offers, “the savings in the liberalized market are zero, with no commercial offer more competitive than the regulated market, for the three types of consumers”.

In the case of dual supply, it is the type 1 consumer (with annual consumption of up to 138 cubic meters – m3) “who presents greater savings compared to the regulated market, with a value of 10 euros/year (savings of 2%)”, and “for the type 2 consumer the savings amount to 9 euros/year (savings of 1%) and are zero for the type 3 consumer” (with annual gas consumption of up to 292 m3 and 640 m3, respectively).

According to data from ERSE, “among the 12 suppliers with gas offers, it appears that no supplier presents commercial offers that are more competitive than the regulated tariff”, and “in dual offers, of the nine suppliers with this type of offers, only one supplier presents more competitive offers than the regulated tariff, in the case of type 1 and type 2 consumers”. As for type 3 consumers, “there are no suppliers with more competitive prices than the regulated tariff”.
