Minister of the STF stated that it was a shame that “microcephalians” directed the operation; said he is called a “prophet” because he was the first to be against the acts
The minister of (Supreme Federal Court) Gilmar Mendes said this Thursday (Dec 12, 2024) that the performance “policy” of the former federal judge and current senator (União-PR) in conducting the Lava Jato operation and later accepting to be Minister of Justice in the government of (PL), revealed his incompetence
“We also saw that Curitiba [13ª Vara Federal de Curitiba] it was a political activity. So much so that Moro is already called up between the 1st and 2nd round [das eleições] to be Bolsonaro’s justice minister. And it was even something positive because the extent of his incompetence was revealed there.”said in an interview with Capital Letter.
The Dean of the Court stated that he was “embarrassing” and a “shame” for everyone, especially for people who declared themselves “lava jatistas”having left the operation in the hands of people “microcephalas” and with “worm brain”.
“I think it is an embarrassing fact for so many people who declared themselves Lava Jatists, that, despite the boldness that these people had, they had the brains of worms, and it was really a shame that we let these microcephalians rule us for so long”he stated.
Gilmar also said that the press “rated” much the work of the 13th Federal Court of Curitiba and, at the same time, was very critical of the Supreme Court when it began to intervene. Another fact that would have encouraged the operation to last so long along those lines would have been the election of Bolsonaro who, “although a political professional, he incorporated the idea of the “non-political”according to the minister.
The operation began a decade ago, in March 2014, and lasted until February 2021. It was closed by the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) under the leadership of the then Attorney General of the Republic Augusto Aras.
“I think we luckily managed to realize in time that that path was going to lead and had already ended in the wrong places. (…) I have a good feeling about this, because I was perhaps the first voice to say “it’s not like that, we must react to this”he declared.
He said that the fact gave him a “unfair fame” of “prophet” in the corridors of the Court. He also added that it was the merit of the Federal Supreme Court to have made the “appropriate correction”.
“We guess that by doing the wrong things, we won’t get the right result. It was clear that this would happen as it did. Unfortunately, it lasted so long and cost so much to the integrity of the companies and even the Brazilian economy itself resents it. With Vaza Jato, Operation Spoofing, we discovered and endorsed what I had already denounced, about abuses between prosecutors and judges”these.
