Portuguese trust firefighters more than health professionals, police officers or teachers

The Firefighters League ordered an inquiry into the Portuguese even before the protests in Lisbon last week.

The survey with the Portuguese was commissioned by the Portuguese Firefighters League and carried out about a month ago — between 7th and 12th Novemberto ascertain the opinion of the Portuguese about the professional class.

The study involved 600 people from across the country, aged between 18 and 65.

Compared to other professions, firefighters are ahead of health, safety and education professionals when it comes to consideration from the Portuguese, says .

When it comes to “Total Trust in firefighters, 58% of respondents say they have complete trust in peacekeepers mainly in transporting patients to appointments and in the event of accidents, to respond to accidents and to fight fires”, he writes in the search results.

76% of respondents stated that firefighters have insufficient public recognitionand 87% consider that this professional class does not have sufficient financial resources for the performance of functions.

69% of those interviewed believe that the government should provide more support to firefightersguaranteeing them more protective equipment, vehicles and personnel.

This investigation was carried out before the violent ones that took place last week in Lisbon, in demands made by firefighters and sappers to the government.
