However, this method will not work if we do not pay attention to the condition of the tree we are buying. It is also important to properly trim the real Christmas tree after purchasing it before placing it in the stand. Here are simple ways to extend the durability of a real Christmas tree.

Whether a Christmas tree will please our eyes not only during the holidays, but also after them, depends largely on what kind of tree we buy. Regardless of whether it is a spruce or a pine, its needles should have an intense green color. Let’s remember to buy Christmas trees from a reliable source and in the open. Freshly cut conifers have a very distinct smell. The twigs are flexible and do not break. It is also worth doing the needle test – “stroking a twig against the grain”. Once you buy your dream tree, you need to give it some time to acclimatize. Leave it in a warmer room than the square with Christmas trees, but not as warm as, for example, the living room that it will ultimately decorate. It is worth watering a tree in a pot once a week with fertilizer for green plants. To prevent the cut Christmas tree from losing its needles, before placing it in the stand, it is worth cutting the stump by about 3 cm and placing the tree in a bucket of warm water (it cannot be hot!). Thanks to this, the conifer will be well hydrated and will remain fresh longer. However, even after such treatment, we must not forget about constant access to water. Christmas trees, like all other green plants, need various types of microelements to survive. Therefore, we must not forget to add water to the stand every day. To nourish the tree and extend its durability, we can prepare a mixture from ingredients that everyone has in the kitchen. Just add salt and sugar to the water. Do not exaggerate with the proportions – 2 tablespoons of salt and sugar per liter of water. Let’s also remember not to place a real Christmas tree in a warm place, and certainly not near a radiator. It is also worth investing in LED lights, which emit less heat and do not burden the tree.
