The (Attorney General of the Union) asked Brazil to remove content with false information about the health status of President Luiz Inácio da Silva (). “The identified narratives present misinformation about the President’s health status, including his death, generating confusion regarding a matter of public relevance, with the potential to undermine trust in public institutions and, in particular, affect political and economic stability itself of the country”, he states.
The AGU also says that the posts violate Youtube Brasil’s own terms of use, which provide for the exclusion of content that does not comply with the law or is harmful to third parties, as well as the platform’s “Community Guidelines”, regarding the dissemination of misinformation. and hate speech.
The body also asked that, if the main request is not met, the posts be identified and marked, within the same period, with the real information.
