Amir in court after a concert gone wrong: the court of appeal delivers its verdict
This is news that will not please anyone. The 40-year-old singer learned this Wednesday, December 11 that the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal acquitted the town of Aubagne and the Salon-based association Les Mélomaneswhom he had sued five years previously, judging them responsible for an injury he suffered during a concert in the region.
At the time in May 2019, Amir participated in a concert organized in Aubagne. But during his performance, the artist is victim of a fall behind the stage. Although the consequences were not serious, the resulting fracture to his left wrist cost him several thousand euros since it would have led to the cancellation of certain projects such as concerts or participation in Dancing with the stars according to the artist’s lawyer.
Amir Haddad had therefore sued the town of Aubagne and the Salon-based association Les Mélomanes to obtain damages to compensate for the financial losses caused by his injury, which according to him would never have happened if safety barriers had been installed at proximity to the stage. A first legal phase took place in April 2023. The Marseille criminal court then ruled in favor of Amir, condemning the city of Aubagne and the association to heavy fines. But on December 11, the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal finally overturned the decision and acquitted the two defendants, as La Provence informs us.
The end of a battle for Amir?
However, this decision is not final. Amir can in fact, if he wishes, appeal to the Court of Cassation after the decision rendered in the middle of December.
