Dutch police stopped the French driver of a vehicle that was transporting two coffins full of cocaine. The reason for stopping the vehicle was its suspicious driving, the Dutch daily Algemeen Dagblad reported. TASR informs on the basis of Saturday’s report of the DPA agency.

Police stopped the vehicle on Saturday night on the A29 highway near the town of Numansdorp, near the Dutch port of Rotterdam. The driver claimed to be transporting two bodies in coffins, but did not provide any necessary cargo receipts. Police opened the coffins at the funeral home and discovered sports bags containing approximately 250 kilograms of cocaine, worth approximately 14 million US dollars.

The man traveled to the Netherlands from France, but even he himself did not know the destination of his trip, said a spokesman for the Dutch police. He was supposed to have been notified via text message. The driver was detained, the police destroyed the drugs.
