Danko spoke about the current political situation: A caretaker government would suit the president

Behind the rebellion of Hlas-SD deputies and non-aligned deputies around Rudolf Huliak is Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, who would be satisfied with an official government. This was stated by the head of the SNS coalition, Andrej Danko, in the STVR talk show Sobotné dialogy.

In this context, he also mentioned the relationship between Pellegrini and Prime Minister Roberto Fico (Smer-SD), which, according to him, is still bad. He does not believe that there will be early elections, he realistically sees an alternative to an official government. He talks about a game that leads to bureaucratic government. Member of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic Gábor Grendel (Slovakia, For the People, KÚ) claims that Pellegrini is not a non-partisan president.

According to Danek, the Hlas-SD party feels no obligation for having won the post of president of the Slovak Republic. He claims that Huliak was persuaded to leave the SNS parliamentary club by people from Hlasu-SD. “Here’s the game of the Voice. I’m asking if anyone in this republic doesn’t want Peter Pellegrini to form an official government. It seems that way to me.” declared that the SNS had not violated any agreements. In addition to the president, Danko sees Tomáš Drucker, the Minister of Education and the vice-chairman of Hlas-SD, behind the “rebellion” in Hlas-SD and around the “hooters”.

“Someone is watching here to put down Robert Fico, so that there is an official government,” he stated. According to Danek, if the prime minister had to ask for a vote of confidence in the government next fall, the rebel MPs, who do not like him, would not give him confidence, and an official government could result. “Then they will manage the entire state from the presidential palace,” Danko thinks.

According to Grendel, Pellegrini will always prioritize the interests of Hlas-SD. “That’s how he performs his function,” he emphasized, saying that he does not expect a change next year. However, according to him, it doesn’t work out too well, because Hlasu-SD’s preferences have decreased since he became president.

Danko repeated that he sees a “serious game” that leads to the pursuit of an official government. “It won’t help if we sit around in January until the real cards are shown,” he stated. He does not believe that there will be early elections, as 90 deputies would have to approve them.

Grendel is in favor of ending Fico’s government, but in a legal way, i.e. regular or early elections. Danko emphasized that the new chairman of the NR SR is not a topic. According to Grendel, the burdensome test for the coalition will be the February meeting, where the law on sports support was moved.
