You can’t wash clothes in an overflowing drum
Each washing machine is marked with how many kilos of clothes it is intended for. But you certainly won’t weigh your clothes before washing, so how should you approach washing? Only fill the washing machine to about 2/3 of the drum’s contents. There just has to be enough space in it so that after filling the drum, the clothes can roll freely in the washing machine and rinse.
Of course, you will achieve an uncertain result with bad rinsing. The powder will not have a chance to dissolve well if you use a gel, nor will it have a chance to work evenly on the entire surface of the clothing. The laundry will be extremely wrinkled. There is also the risk that you will want to wash it again. So there will definitely be no investigation here. You just wasted water, electricity, time and a dose of powder and fabric softener.
Too much laundry in the drum overloads the washing machine
But that’s not quite the biggest problem. If you would wash in this way all the time and the quality of the result and the appearance of the clothes would not bother you in any way, then you will not be happy with the condition of the washing machine. Excessive load not only causes engine wear, but also directly risks mechanical damage to the bearings. It is even possible to damage the drum of the washing machine in this way. After several repairs, you will then have to replace the appliance.
Those washing machines can’t stand anything these days! We can talk about the quality of appliances another time, but such a burden has always been, is and will be a problem. You have to remember that the washing machine does not just spin the clothes you put in it. The load mainly arises when clothes are soaked with water. A special category is therefore large towels or other bulky and absorbent pieces of textile. Therefore, it is better to always wash an adequate amount.
The drum should be filled to 75 to 80 percent, i.e. so that there is a gap about the size of your palm between the top of the drum and the clothes inside. Not only will this save the washing machine from excessive load, but your laundry will also be washed better and less wrinkled.
