The general contacted the lieutenant colonel’s father, General Mauro Lourena Cid, to obtain confidential information about the soldier’s plea bargain, says a report sent to the (Supreme Federal Court).
Braga Netto was arrested this Saturday (14) for obstruction of justice. According to the Federal Police, the general acted in a “reiterated and prominent manner to prevent the complete identification of the facts investigated.”
The suspicions were confirmed by the PF after an examination of Lourena Cid’s cell phone and a new statement from Cid, on December 5th. According to investigators, Braga Netto’s attempts to access the information began shortly after Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) former aide-de-camp was released in September 2023.
“This happened shortly after my release, when I collaborated during that period, where not only him but also other intermediaries tried to find out what I had said”, said Cid in a statement to the PF.
“I made contact with my father, they tried to see what I had, if I had really collaborated, because the press was saying a lot of things, he was not official, and trying to understand what I had said. So much so that my father in response, which is the third one, said ‘no, Cid said it wasn’t’.”
According to the PF, the information shows that Braga Netto “performed conduct to interfere in the investigation, notably through actions aimed at obtaining confidential data provided by collaborator Mauro Cesar Barbosa Cid to the Federal Police.”
