A pointed out that the general of the financed the action of the Army Special Forces officers, the “black kids”, to kill the minister, of the, the then-elected president of the Republic, and the then-elected vice-president of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin , in 2022. According to the PF, he would have delivered resources in a wine bag. “Braga Netto would also have acted directly and personally in financing illicit actions, providing financial resources in a bag of wine, confirming his preponderant role in the execution of criminal acts”, states the PF. The money would have been handed over to Major Rafael Martins de Oliveira, arrested in Operation Contragolpe, and would be used to “finance the expenses necessary to carry out the operation”. In testimony, Mauro Cid stated, according to Braga Netto himself, the money “had been obtained from agribusiness people”.
The former minister’s house, in , would have been used to plan the coup mission, in November 2022. The general is appointed as an interlocutor of the “black kids” with the Palácio do Planalto. Another suspicion from the PF is that the former minister may have acted to hinder the investigations. According to the Federal Police, the general tried to obtain confidential information about Mauro Cid’s accusation, in addition to aligning versions with other people being investigated. Mauro Cid involved Braga Netto in his award-winning collaboration. The denunciation was under threat of termination, until the lieutenant colonel changed his strategy and decided to hand over the former minister, in a statement given directly to Alexandre de Moraes. Mauro Cid admitted that “not only him (Braga Netto) but also other intermediaries tried to find out” what he said in the statement.
The investigation indicates that Braga Netto made contact by telephone with General Mauro Cesar Lourena Cid, father of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, to control what would be passed on to investigators and keep allies informed. The PF also found a document with questions and answers about Mauro Cid’s accusation on the desk of Colonel Flávio Botelho Peregrino, Braga Netto’s advisor, at the headquarters of the Liberal Party (PL). The advisor was the target of searches this Saturday. In addition to the preventive detention, Moraes also authorized searches at the addresses of Braga Netto, who underwent a custody hearing, via videoconference, this Saturday afternoon.
