Liverpool proved once again why they are one of the favorites to win the English Championship title. This Saturday, even with one player less since the 17th minute of the first half, they managed to achieve a 2-2 draw with Fulham, at Anfield, in the 16th round.
Gakpo and Diogo Jota scored the goals for the current leader of the competition, with 36 points. On Fulham’s side, the highlights were the Brazilians. Andreas Pereira and Rodrigo Muniz, ex-Flamengo, found the net for ninth place, with 24 points.
It was an initial stage full of emotions at Anfield. Liverpool started better and put pressure on Fulham in the opening 10 minutes, but it was the visiting team who opened the scoring. On Robinson’s cross in the area, Andreas Pereira volleyed in to score the first of the game.
Shortly after the goal, Robertson fouled Wilson and ended up being sent off. With one down, Liverpool only managed to react in the first minute of the second half, when Gakpo received a cross from Salah and made it 1-1.
Looking for a victory against the championship leader, Fulham continued to take risks and took the lead with Rodrigo Muniz. The attacker received it from Robinson and just pushed. But the party was interrupted by Diogo Jota, at 40. He received the ball after Darwin Núñez’s pivot, made a beautiful dribble and declared equality, with the help of Alisson, who made great saves in the final minutes.
Arsenal had the chance to get closer to Liverpool, but ended up disappointing by drawing 0-0 with Everton at the Emirates Stadium, thus remaining in third place, with 30 points, also behind Chelsea, with 31. Everton is the 15th, with 15.
Brazilians Gabriel Magalhães and Gabriel Martinelli were on the field for Arsenal. The second was one of the most dangerous, but he was unable to overcome his rival’s good marking. In the final stage, Gabriel Jesus was used, but he also did not shine.
Finally, Matheus Cunha scored, but did not prevent Wolverhampton’s 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich, who confirmed the victory in the 49th minute of the second half, with Taylon. This is only the second victory for Ipswich, who remain in 18th place, with 12 points, compared to their opponents’ nine.
