A hat is an essential piece of clothing in the fall and winter, but some people may be reluctant to wear it because of the static electricity it generates. What to do to wear it without worrying about your hairstyle?
Frizzy hair is a common problem in winter, because that’s when we wear more layers of clothes – sweaters, jackets, hats and scarves. When these materials are rubbed against the hair, the same ions repel each otherwhich results in electrified strands. However, the result of ion friction is not the only reason. This problem may be exacerbated by the condition of the hair.
Hair that is dry is more likely to become electrified. In winter, the condition of your hair may deteriorate due to various factors including frequent changes in temperature, exposure of hair to dry air and contact with artificial materials that may damage it. All this is also intensified by poor care habits and an inappropriate diet.
Let’s also remember that it is better to choose hats made of natural materials, including: wool or cotton. Those made of artificial fabrics make the hair much more electrified.

If the strands are in poor condition, it is worth using better care, e.g. moisturizing. Apart from that you can protect the inside of the cap with a special mixture that will eliminate the problem of static electricityto prepare it you need:
- 1 cup (250 ml) distilled water,
- 1/4 cup of vinegar,
- 1 tablespoon of glycerin.
These ingredients are thoroughly mixed and poured into a bottle with an atomizer, e.g. after a used cosmetic. Shake the mixture thoroughly before each use. Spray it inside the hat – it is worth doing it a moment before putting it on, so as not to transfer excess mixture to the hair. You can also spray it on a scarf – this is useful if you have long hair.

In addition to using moisturizing oils and a mixture with glycerin, you can also take a few steps that will help you forget about the problem of static electricity.
- Choose conscious care — check the cosmetics you use. Remember that oily hair also needs moisturization. Don’t use strong shampoos every time. When washing your hair, do not rinse your hair with very warm water, lukewarm water works best.
- Make moisturizing rinses — you can do it both with cosmetics and home remedies. In the case of the second option, an apple cider vinegar rinse will work (1-2 tablespoons per liter of water), which can be done once a week after washing your hair.
- Choose a good brush – products with natural bristles will work best.
- Dry your hair properly – If you like to dry your hair with a hair dryer, choose equipment with an ionization option.
Thanks to these methods, you will forget about the problem of static hair in winter. However, remember to above all take care of their good condition in these demanding times.
