Snow meringue chain

Meringues are loved by children and adults alike and look great on the Christmas tree. When you bake cookies, bake meringues too! We have a simple recipe for you. For one dose, you will need approx. 100 g of egg whites and then only 225 g of granulated sugar.

Put the perfectly clean egg whites in a large bowl together with the sugar and set it over a pot of slightly boiling water. The bottom should not touch it. Then stir the mixture for about 10 minutes, until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture is warm to the touch. Then whip it for at least 15 minutes, until you get stiff, shiny snow.

Then use a pastry bag to make meringues directly on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. You can make different shapes to make the chain interesting and colorful. Then all that remains is to put the meringues in the oven heated to 100 °C for about 60 to 70 minutes. Let them cool until the next day.

Finally, thread them at regular intervals on the thread and hang the chain on the tree. Decorations can also be made from the meringues in the same way, a cute wreath or heart can be inserted from them, and individual pieces can also be colored with food colors in different shades, or decorated with some kind of sprinkles. Always work with meringues very carefully, they are extremely fragile.

A chain of dried apples

Another delicacy, which is also healthy, can be decorative crosses on the tree. Cut the apples into equally thick slices and dry them either in a dryer, oven or on a heater. Then string them on a string just like meringues and the chain is ready! Even in this case, you can make Christmas decorations. Thread some pretty ribbon or twine into each slice and attach them to the branches of the tree with a hook.

Dried fruit chain

Many will also welcome another healthy delicacy on the tree, and that is dried fruit. Cranberries, plums, raisins, apricots, but also bananas and pineapples can be strung on a strong thread. It depends on which species you like best in your home.

Popcorn chain

If you want to treat salty lovers too, use popcorn. Although it may surprise many, it looks very effective on the tree.

Hazelnut dough chain

From salty snacks, you can also use small pastries made from hazelnut dough. If you don’t have time to make your own, use a purchased one that is already rolled out. It is enough to cut interesting shapes out of it with the help of molds or a knife, sprinkle with sesame, poppy seeds or cumin and, after baking, string them on a thread or hang them separately on a tree.
