The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, continues his project for the country’s international reintegration. This Saturday (14) he received Italian citizenship in Rome from Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. An invitation to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration as president of the United States, on January 20, was also announced.
Although the information is that Trump’s invitation arrived informally, sources on Milei’s team said that he has already confirmed his presence. Thus, the Argentine would add Washington as another destination for an international trip in January, which already has Davos (Switzerland) and Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (Israel) confirmed.
A Bloomberg highlights that there is no precedent for a head of state to be invited to the inauguration ceremony in front of the Capitol, in Washington, but Trump has already broken this protocol by inviting Chinese leader Xi Jinping, as announced this week.
In addition to Milei and Xi Jinping, Giorgia Meloni and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele were invited. But there is no confirmation that they will be in possession.
“Contempt” for politicians
After the ceremony in Rome, Milei participated in the “Atreju” festival, promoted by the ruling Brothers of Italy party, where he spoke.
According to the Notícias Argentinas website, he highlighted his administration and recalled that many believed that his government would only last a short time. “Contrary to all the predictions of professional analysts and politicians, they believed that we would only last a few months and that we were not qualified to govern. They had to throw away all their manuals”, he provoked.

Milei also declared that Argentines and Italians are united by a common lineage and deep blood ties that date back several generations. “That’s why, more than being among friends, I feel like I’m with family,” said the president.
“I am an economist, I am not a politician. In fact, I have always despised politicians for the damage they caused to my country,” he said. “I have my own recipes, which are not politically correct or very professional, but so far they have worked for us,” he added.
