The president () remains “lucid and oriented” after a procedure to prevent further bleeding in the skull, according to a medical bulletin released by Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in .
The president also eats and walks normally and, this Saturday (14), he will only undergo blood tests, with no imaging tests planned.
The agent was admitted to hospital on Tuesday (10) due to a three-centimeter hematoma detected between the brain and one of the membranes (meninges) that surround the organ.
He had felt severe headaches on Monday (9), when he was taken to the hospital in São Paulo.
According to doctors, the symptom was related to the fall suffered by the agent in October. At the time, Lula was at the Palácio da Alvorada when he fell from a bench in the bathroom while cutting his nails, and had to receive stitches on the back of his head.
On Friday (13), he appeared on social media walking in the hospital corridors and thanked him for messages and prayers.
“I ask you to stay calm. I’m firm and strong! Walking the corridors with @marcos_stavale, the neurosurgeon responsible for my procedure, talking a lot, eating well and, soon, ready to return home and continue working and taking care of each Brazilian family .”
According to , the president was “lucid and oriented” and ate normally. Since then, he has undergone “semi-intensive” care, with monitoring at extended intervals.
Even on the days he was in the ICU, Lula did not hand over the position to his deputy, (). The president is expected to return to Brasília next week.
